I left Corporate America on mutually agreeable terms over a year ago. Now I'm concentrating on my kids until they're asleep. After dark... Full-time Mom begins "pursuing other interests"! (One of them here on Vox.) My kids are: Eldest Son, Age 6 and in First Grade; Precious Princess, the only girl, age 4; and Littlest Brother, age 2. My husband and I are still married after fourteen years. He is truly my best friend in life and a great dad. Because of him and his wonderful family, I have been attempting to be a Christian for, oh, the past thirteen - fourteen years or so. I first went to church with him before we were married, at Easter fifteen years ago. I still struggly daily with the decision to call myself a Christian, since I was raised a skeptic. After all, in my spiritual life I'm only thirteen years old, and we all know how tough adolescence can be. Also, because of how many times a day I fail to live up to the simple commandment Jesus left us with: "Love One Another," I feel most comfortable thinking of myself as an "aspiring Christian." I don't feel righteous enough, most days, to declare myself a Christian out loud. I'll never reach that asymptote. But at least it gives me something to shoot for.
